Alesia Hall / Houston Bridal and Portrait Photographer

Alesia, her awesome mum, my little brother, and I terrorize the lobby of a Holiday Inn a couple months ago for this lovely bridal photo session. Well, it was more like my brother and I while Alesia and her mum watched in horror and concern. This session is probably one of the most spontaneous shoots I’ve done so far. The plan was to hit the streets of downtown that day but we ended up shooting a mostly indoor shoot.  Alesia rented a very standard room at the Holiday Inn. This room was absolutely one of the most boring looking rooms that I’ve seen out of a hotel room EXCEEEEEPT for its blue wall and I absolutely had to make use of it.

When I see walls that have great potential for perfect backdrops, believe that I would go the distance to make it mine and the hotel room and lobby walls were no exceptions. With the room, a lamp, table, and telephone were removed to clear way for my blue wall. The only problem was the huge 3×2 picture frame that was bolted in the middle of the wall but photoshop took care of that.:)I regret not taking any photos of how the room and lobby looked originally.  As soon as the hotel front desk gave me the ok, my brother and I went to town in moving two 3-seater couches, 2 huge vases, 2 side tables,  and a massive 5×5 feet 50lb coffee table along with various magazines and other table settings. Took us a good 10 minutes to set up my “studio” and the resulting images were created. Spontaneity at its best, LOL.

You owned it!

Janie + Andy / Houston, Texas Fashion and Glamour Portrait Photographer / Healthy and Peaceful Living

In a couple days my juicing ventures will hit 2 months, and I can not express to its furthest extent of how great I feel. The natural high in energy is awesome to say the least. I don’t have the urge to drink coffee anymore. Well actually I do just because I miss the taste of vanilla soy lattes. Don’t judge me. But I have had a couple 5-hour energies due to a couple 12+hour weddings.  You don’t realize this at first but being a juicer is like marijuana*, it’s a gateway to other similar and greater transitions. I say this because I truly believe juicing will be my first stage into becoming a vegetarian and ultimately into a vegan. But before I go on, I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to force this lifestyle onto any one. I’m rather trying to promote a healthy style of living through my experiences.

What do you do when you enter new territory in your life. You would, of course, do research and learn the in’s and out’s of it.  In my case I surrounded myself with a support group that circled around other juicers. I would watch youtube videos, read books, and join online forums. What I ended up finding out through all of this is one common theme: the elimination of eating meats from your diet. That sounds familiar doesn’t it? Bingo! That’s right, that is the gist definition of vegetarianism!  Vegetarians, opposed to vegans, consume either/both dairy and egg products. I can go on and on on why not to consume animal products but I’ll just stop here and suggest a few documentaries to you guys. The first movie that inspired me is Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Forks over Knives, Food, Inc., Food Matters, Earthlings, and finally Gary Yourofsky’s and Dr. Michael Klaper’s videos all helped persuade and revealed to me the useless and dangerous consumption of meat and dairy products in our society. And You can call me a no good hippy, tree-hugging and animal rights activist, but watch these movies and tell me for yourselves that we have a right to do this. I was a born meat eater for nearly 28 years. I loved the taste of meat but after watching these movies, how can you humanely stand for something like this? /ENDRANT:)

Mucho CONGRATULATIONS to you, Janie, in opening your own private pediatric practice. You and Andy make such a great couple. Thanks so much for volunteering and taking the associated abusing I did when posing you:). Remember, the more uncomfortable the pose, the better it’ll look! LOL Janie’s awesome make up was done by her talented sister, Amber Doan Viray
